上個月買了新顯示卡，只用來打電動似乎太浪費（最近也沒空玩…）。為了物盡其用，打算在新權的Linux上安裝3D桌面管理程式，讓一般工作也能享受新顯示卡的功能。
　　先秀三段影片給各位看看效果，再接著說明適用於Debian 4.0的安裝步驟。聽說Ubuntu 7.04已經包含3D桌面管理程式，改天再來試試看。

◎裝好後就像下面影片的樣子，為動感桌面基本版。我覺得「視窗排列」功能最實用，找視窗不用再一個個切換。

◎這位應該是神人級玩家，畫面令人眼花撩亂，堪稱超動感3D桌面秀。

◎實用型動感桌面示範，與上一片比起來顯得樸實無華。常常開啟一堆程式後，找不到想要的視窗嗎？瞧瞧人家怎麼玩吧！

１．首先加上Beryl官方APT source list，安裝相關套件後，修改xorg.conf後重新啟動X-window。
# vim /etc/apt/sources.list
　　加入
　　deb http://debian.beryl-project.org etch main
　　deb-src http://debian.beryl-project.org etch main
# wget -O - http://debian.beryl-project.org/root@lupine.me.uk.gpg | sudo apt-key add
# apt-get update
# apt-get install libxcomposite1
# apt-get install beryl

２．修改xorg.conf
# vim /etc/X11/xorg.conf
在檔尾加上
　　Section "Extensions"
　　　　Option "Composite" "Enable"
　　EndSection

重新啟動X-window。完成後執行
# beryl-manager

３．成功後工作列會出現一顆紅寶石，開始體驗動感桌面吧！在開始之前先讀讀Beryl操作手冊，會更加得心應手。

４．如果遇到動感不足（不順）的問題，可能是AGP Fast Write問題。檢查顯示卡︰
$ cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/card
　　Fast Writes: Supported
　　SBA: Supported
　　AGP Rates: 4x 2x 1x
　　Registers: 0x1f000217:0x1f000314
再檢查主機板：
$ cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
　　Status: Enabled
　　Driver: NVIDIA
　　AGP Rate: 4x
　　Fast Writes: Disabled
　　SBA: Enabled
像我就發現AGP Fast Write沒啟動，得設定kernel將此功能啟動。先設定nvidia module參數，再設定開機參數kernel agp=off。重新開機後檢查一次，Fast Write終於Enabled了，速度果然變快了。
$ vim /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-kernel-nkc
　　加入
　　options nvidia NVreg_EnableAGPSBA=1 NVreg_EnableAGPFW=1
$ vim /boot/grub/menu.lst
　　找出開機用的選項，於行尾加上agp=off
　　kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-1.2849.fc6 ro root=LABEL=/1 agp=off
